Adrianna, a refugee of the Bosnian War, holds her brand new baby in her arms as she travels across the country to a new home. She is without her husband. She has no money and no home. The only thing she clings to besides her precious baby girl is a glimmer of hope that her life will be better than the one she left behind.
When the two women meet, they are drawn together as kindred spirits, each recognizing the similar pain in the other. Can they help each other heal? Can their burgeoning friendship navigate the pitfalls that come with starting over? And what happens when Laura’s new best friend makes a choice she will never be able to comprehend?
